Garrosh Enters the Nexus!

“You will serve the Horde... or be crushed beneath it.”

- Garrosh, Son of Hellscream

Throughout the history of Azeroth, there are few mortals of greater notoriety than Garrosh Hellscream. A powerful warrior and tactician of the Horde, Garrosh was heralded as a hero of his people after having successfully countered the armies of the Lich King during the Warsong Offensive in Northrend.

In his youth, Garrosh was burdened by the specter of his family’s legacy. His father, Grommash, was the first Orc to accept the demon Mannoroth’s blood, in a desperate bid to empower his people. In time, Garrosh’s self-doubts were allayed as he came to know of his father’s sacrifice and eventual redemption. As he grew in stature, Garrosh developed into a confident and capable warrior, eventually leading the Horde into battle. Just as his abilities evolved, so too did his ambition... and his penchant for violence. To a fault, he stayed true to the original tenet of the Horde Invasion Forces: conquer all, or die trying.

Now, this proud and fearsome warrior has crossed over into the Nexus, seeking to champion his cause by challenging all who would stand in his way. For Garrosh Hellscream, there can be no peace. There is only victory… or death.

Talent Highlights:

nitrous_DVA_crop.jpgUnrivaled Strength – This talent strengthens Wrecking Ball, Garrosh’s signature ability to hurl his opponents; allowing him to throw farther, and deal more damage to the enemies around the site of impact.

storm_ui_icon_dehaka_burrow.pngDouble Up -  Allows Garrosh to activate his Armor Up trait, greatly increasing the armor bonus provided for a few seconds. When used wisely, Double Up can make Garrosh incredibly resilient when he would have otherwise taken massive damage.

nuclearoption_DVA_crop.jpgBloodcraze – As warriors are often the first into the fight, their ability to sustain themselves in the heat of battle is crucial for victory. This talent increases Garrosh’s sustainability, allowing him to heal himself for an even greater amount than he already could.

Friends and Foes:

Works well with:

Malfurion_120.jpg Malfurion’s kit synergizes well with Garrosh’s trait, Armor Up. Regrowth helps sustain Garrosh’s health at a lower percentage, making him deceptively tanky. Locking enemies in place with Entangling Roots is incredibly potent when used to set up Garrosh’s Groundbreaker, meanwhile, or as a follow-up Wrecking Ball.

Garrosh doesn’t have much solo kill potential, so a burst mage like Kael’thas makes a great addition to his displacement abilities for a powerful one-two punch of damage. Using Kael’thas’ Gravity Lapse and Flame Strike after an enemy is thrown by Garrosh can be an effective way to secure kills.

Garrosh’s greatest weakness is his low mobility, but once he’s in melee range, he’s a force to be reckoned with. Lúcio’s  ability to boost the movement speed of surrounding allies allows makes it much easier for Garrosh to engage enemies with Groundbreaker. Soundwave is also a powerful follow-up to an enemy getting thrown, displacing them as far as possible!

Struggles Against:

Malthael_crop.jpg

A lot of Garrosh’s survivability is tied into the amount of Armor he gains at low health. Malthael’s trait bypasses Armor and deals % damage, making him incredibly effective against Garrosh. Additionally, Wraith Strike helps Malthael stick to Garrosh if he tries to run, and allows him to teleport back to Garrosh’s location after being thrown.

Lunara_Crop.jpg

Lunara’s increased movement speed and long-range poke makes her a safe pick against Garrosh. She is able to keep a cautionary distance from the Warchief, and bob and weave in range to deal sustained damage over long periods of time. In addition, her slow allows her to set the tempo of the fight and kite Garrosh around.

Leoric is a very effective bruiser against Garrosh. His ability to drain a percentage of health and recover it for himself allows him to sustain against Garrosh very well. He can also use Wraith Walk to counter both Groundbreaker and Wrecking Ball due to the Unstoppable buff, making it very hard for Garrosh to put Leoric into a sticky situation and keep him there long enough to do lasting damage.
